Lydia Collins - Portfolio

Over four years, I have been developing my online presence via Instagram (@lydsustainableliving), this website, and other collaborations with brands and creators. I have created infographics, video content for Instagram and TikTok, and longer posts for online blogs and magazines! Since starting this website, I have started to branch out and create posts in French and English to widen my audience.

@lydsustainableliving on Instagram

In November 2020, I decided to create an Instagram account dedicated to sustainable living, to hold myself accountable, and to share any tips & tricks I learned along my journey. I created video content, infographics, and shared recipes, sustainable products I'd tried, and photos to share with my growing community. This page started to grow rapidly in July 2021, when I posted a reel that got 250,000 views. Since then, I have been collaborating with more sustainable brands and creators to have a wider impact. Alongside @snap_dragonfly, the hashtag #IStand4SecondHand was created, sharing the joy of shopping secondhand and getting people involved in challenges and showcasing secondhand fashion.

Composty Impact Report

Through the connection I made with Composty in 2020, and after writing some blog posts and creating content for the enterprise, Composty commissioned me to write their Annual Impact Report 2023. This process involved heavy research on my part, alongside working with the founders, Helen and Matt, to check in and ask more specific questions about Composty.

Interviews

I have been lucky enough to take part in a few interviews for magazines like Fizzy Mag and Finsu Official, and pages like Eco Wiser.

These interviews were an enjoyable process and allowed me to go deeper into sustainability discussion topics.

The Slow Approach

The Slow Approach is a sustainable fashion-focused magazine with 2 issues published each year. For the second edition, I decided to submit an article entitled 'Sustainable Style Revolution', where I researched and wrote about how we could use innovative new materials like mycelium-based leather, algae-based textiles, or Piñatex to move forward in sustainable fashion. This will be published in mid-2024.

NEC Spring Fair

As well as writing their Annual Impact Report for 2023, Composty approached me to ask if I could run their stand at the NEC Spring Fair 2024. This was an amazing opportunity to understand the business more, reach out to potential buyers, and create further connections for Composty by discussing with large organisations.

It was such an insightful experience and I'm so grateful to Matt and Helen for trusting me to represent their mission, values, and incredible plastic-free cleaning range. It's an amazing feeling to be a small part of Composty's journey, and demonstrates the power of social media!
